Six weeks after graduating, Phúc, 23, had sent his CV to seven companies. Two never replied. Five rejected him — some through automated emails, some with a quick phone call.
The same line kept showing up in his inbox: "We have selected a candidate who is a better fit." The first time, Phúc told himself his CV probably wasn't good enough yet. By the seventh time, he just wanted to close his laptop and not open it again.
This morning, Phúc opened his CV file anyway and read it start to finish. Nothing stood out as obviously wrong. He opened LinkedIn, scrolled through job postings, and found three companies that looked like a good fit. He sat there for a moment, thinking: if he stopped at rejection number seven, he'd never know whether number eight could have been the one.
Not sending means definitely no result. Sending at least leaves a chance. Phúc opened his email, attached his CV, and sent it to all three at once.
"I don't know if this one will work out. But I know for sure that not sending it won't."
Which number are you on right now?
