Letting yourself rest: a Saturday spent in bed
June 27, 2026

On Saturday she mapped out the whole day: an online course in the morning, reading in the afternoon, the gym at night. But by 11am, sunlight already spilling through the window, she was still lying in bed — not a single thing on the list done.

She meant to jump up and force herself through the plan. Then she stayed put. "Why are you still lying here? Everyone else stays productive on weekends." The guilt arrived fast — faster than the strength to sit up.

Then she remembered the week: Monday's meetings from 8 to 6, Tuesday's overtime until 9, Wednesday's 8pm call, Thursday's deadline, Friday's review for the whole team. Only now did she understand why she felt so wiped. That one week had drained her battery dry.

She looked at her phone charging on the ledge and the thought landed: when a phone runs out, you plug it in — people need charging too. Today was that day. She closed her planner — the first time without scolding herself for it.
A phone runs out, so you charge it. People need charging too.
Rest isn't laziness; sometimes it's just how you keep going. When was the last time you let yourself rest without feeling guilty?
