Away from home, tired but still going

Shift ends. Kitchen smell still on the shirt. Legs aching, but the textbook still has to open — exam is tomorrow and it doesn't wait. This is the kind of tired you can't really explain to people back home.

Moment 1

Straight from the serving shift to the study desk. Legs sore from hours of standing. Exam tomorrow won't wait. Made coffee, opened the book, kept reading. Not because it wasn't exhausting — but because no one else could do this tired for him. So he did it himself.

Moment 2

2am. Eyes stinging from the screen. Half of him wanted to just turn off the light. Then he thought of his mom — turned one more page. Not heroic. Just the kind of person who doesn't know how to quit, even after deciding to quit many times.

Moment 3

Mom called asking if he was okay. "Yeah Mom, I'm fine." Smiled a little so she wouldn't worry. Hung up, cried alone. Woke up early the next morning and kept studying. Crying alone isn't weakness — it means he's handling everything himself. And he is.

Crying alone isn't weakness. It means you're managing on your own.

This kind of tired isn't something everyone understands. But the person carrying it — they know who they are. And that's enough.
