Seven tasks, one done — am I bad at this, or just carrying too much?

He opened the list of things he'd signed up for. Seven lines. One green dot. The other six all the same yellow — the kind that starts to sting if you stare long enough.

Moment 1

The first thought that came was: I'm bad at everything. He sat with the page for a while, then counted again. He hadn't done seven things badly. He had taken on seven things at once. He wasn't less capable — he'd just carried more than he could hold. He picked up a pen, crossed out four lines, and kept three.

Moment 2

He thought back over the past weeks: one task in the morning, another squeezed in at lunch, a third opened at night. Every day he touched all seven, and none of them reached the end. The only one he'd finished was the one he once sat down and did in one go. Today he didn't open seven tabs. He finished one thing before starting the next.

Moment 3

This time, when asked what he'd take on, he wrote three lines. Last time he took seven, afraid that taking fewer would make him look lazy. In the end, taking more just meant leaving more unfinished. He sent the three-line list. His hand shook a little, but he felt lighter.

I took on more so no one would judge. Now I take what I can finish.

How many lines are on your list right now — and how many are there only because saying no felt harder?
